In the Isle of Wight area the leaded rope has proved to be a suitable method of weighting them. Fishermen in other areas find this too heavy and prefer to use metal rings. These can be attached either outside at each end or internally beside the bait tube. The rings ensure that the pot rolls giving even wear and also help to clean off surface growth..
The amount of weight will depend on the individual area being fished.
